Mattress Care for futons
You have stored your futon in the basement or garage or even on the back porch. Now it time to care and clean and put it to good use. Question is how do I clean it with soap and water maybe chemicals or can I steam it what can I use on it? There is different ways to solve the issues.
1. The first thing is to remove your mattress cover if there is one and follow manufactures instructions for washing the cover. I have placed my cover in the washing machine and have sent it out to be cleaned.
2. You should vacuum to remove any loose dirt from mattress.
3. If the surface is stained you can use upholstery cleaner if the material is of that type on difficult areas or some other type of cleaners follow instructions for colored fabric and do a test area first.
4. Steam cleaning can be an effective way take care your bed. Make sure that you do not get it too wet it can be difficult to dry.
5. Note that once you have clean it, you should go over it with clean water in the steam cleaner. To remove any residue from the fabric this recommendation is for people who have sensitive skin or allergies.
6. Take mattress out side to air dry and place in the sunlight if possible. Leaving it outside once dry it will have a crisp clean smell once dry vacuum to remove any loose dust.
7. Clean your bed frame with mild detergent. If you have a wood frames with scratches or nicks go to the hardware store and get stain pen for the problem. Select the right color pen for the one that matched of your frame. Apply stain to the effective area let stain take and buff with soft cloth.
